In September 2020, the FAA announced it will issue a Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and Record of Decision (ROD), with no further opportunity for public comment, in the wake of Executive Order 13927.
This would allow the first ever launch of commercial rockets over a unit of the National Wilderness Preservation System.
Every possible trajectory from Spaceport Camden will pass over Cumberland Island National Seashore, located just 4 to 10 miles downrange.
One rocket failure over Cumberland’s Wilderness Area could destroy centuries-old maritime forests, the habitat of multiple threatened and endangered species, and a National Historic District.
Something has to be done!
We swiftly went to work and crafted a logo, website and messaging to gain exposure and drive people to sign a Change.org petition.
